Why I Built Muslim Makerspace

The Moment That Sparked It

A couple of years ago, I was exploring Islamic home finance because I wanted to buy a house in a halal way.
I searched Google for terms like “Islamic home finance” and “Islamic mortgage.”

One of the top results was a paid ad from a major bank. I clicked through… and landed on their standard mortgage page, with zero mention of Islamic finance or halal options.

After 1–2 hours of searching, I still had no clarity. That experience stayed with me.

What Was Wrong With That Experience?

  1. Wasted time & energy — Finding value-aligned options shouldn’t require hours of digging across search results, forums, and social media.

  2. Misleading ads & misinformation — Some companies target Islamic keywords without offering halal products, creating confusion and distrust.

  3. Fragmented discovery — There’s no single, reliable hub to find Muslim makers, products, or businesses — everything feels scattered and outdated.

Trust gap — As Muslims trying to live by our values, we need confidence that what we’re finding actually aligns with those values.

The Idea

If I was struggling to find halal, value-aligned options, others were too.
What if there was a platform built for us, by us?

That question became the seed for Muslim Makerspace.

What Is Muslim Makerspace?

Muslim Makerspace is a community platform where Muslims can:

  • Showcase their maker and business profiles with bios, skills, locations, and portfolios.

  • List products made by Muslim creators — with images, categories, and optional pricing.

  • Discover Muslim-owned businesses, makers, and products through searchable directories.

  • Connect and support one another with reviews, ratings, and collaborations.

How Muslim Makerspace Helps

  • Visibility for makers & businesses: Get discovered by people who care about supporting Muslim innovation.

  • Faster, trustworthy discovery: No more guessing or falling for misleading ads.

  • Community-first growth: Build credibility through transparent profiles and reviews.

  • Collaboration opportunities: Find partners, clients, and supporters who share your values.

Who It’s For

  • Makers/Creators: Share your skills, projects, and products. Build an audience and get feedback.

  • Businesses: Promote your brand, category, and services to a community that wants to support you.

  • Supporters: Discover and uplift Muslim-led products and services with reviews and ratings.

Join the Movement

This isn’t just a platform — it’s a movement to make Muslim innovation visible, accessible, and celebrated.

If you’re a maker, a business owner, or someone who simply wants to support Muslim-built products, we’d love to have you.
